BEFORE YOU START
The premise
Sarah Morgan works as a criminal defense lawyer in Washington, DC. Her husband, Adam, has been having an affair with Kelly Summers. After Kelly is found dead at the couple's lake house, Adam is arrested, and Sarah takes on his defense herself.
Why the setup appeals
- A lawyer with a personal stake
- Sarah's client is her own husband, and the case concerns the woman he was seeing. Choose it for a legal setup in which the defense lawyer is also the betrayed spouse.
- A death at the couple's lake house
- Kelly is found at a place that belongs to Sarah and Adam, so the crime is tied to their life together from the start.
